DNA Partner and Wine Director Alex Cruz is a passionate restaurateur, intensely interested in every aspect - from food and wine to design and hospitality. Grounded in an intense and practical education that began in his uncle's restaurant at age 9, Alex's engaged yet relaxed approach to running a restaurant and cellar is down-to-earth and detail-oriented. On a trip to Portugal, he fell in love with the characteristic pungent aroma of wine fermenting in his grandparents' lagare. Alex's obsession for collecting and sharing wines that embody the unique character of their origin - what he calls their soul - has found full expression at DNA. His love and understanding of wine has already led to a prestigious Spectator Wine Award.
DNA was created with the philosophy that an evening out should be a rejuvenating experience, nourishing and nurturing to all the senses. Simple complexity, as expressed in dedicated attention to the humblest of details and a sophisticated distillation of the traditional and the contemporary, is Alex's guiding principle. Alex brings a personal, friendly touch to all aspects of DNA, creating singular moments that elevate everyday pleasures into casually sublime experiences.
